#16 Are we with too many people on planet Earth?

In this episode, we talk about an interesting and widely discussed topic: Are we with too many people on planet Earth? The current world population is approaching 8 billion and is projected to grow to 11 billion by the end of this century, after which it will start to decline. Our discussions revolve around data from one of the best demographers around the world: Hans Rosling (check out his book Factfulness), and the book Population by John Weeks.

Our discussion, as always, revolves around a few topics/questions, which are stated below:

  • What is the reason we want to talk about this topic?

  • History of humankind’s growth in numbers

  • What kind of misconceptions do people have when it comes to the number of people we have on this planet?

  • Are having kids really that bad for sustainability and the planet?
